Hello good viewers, we are once again on the road fishing! After our super successful trip up north we are back in the Triton and towing the Whittley north in search of warmer weather. This week we are fishing from Canberra up to Sydney. Hoping to catch some snapper at Bateman’s Bay, Kingfish in Sydney and then Hairtail in the Hawksberry River.

Make sure you watch this weeks show, it’s the Permit program and it’s come up really well. Some speccy shots of Permit just swimming around the flats of Cape York! Then next week we start with a series of programs called “Road Trip”, which is what we are filming this week.

Hello everyone, we have just come back from up north (Cape York) where we had a sensational trip away. This weeks show and next weeks feature what we got up to… Including catching a couple of Permit! For anyone who doesn’t know, Permit are the holy grail for flats fishing. Nick got on a plastic crab and Andrew got on fly. It is the first time an Aussie TV show has filmed Permit fishing/captures… Very Exciting indeed!

The Permit program will be next week, and also features catching a Cobia off the back of a manta ray! This weeks episode features tuna fishing, big Spanish mackerel, a huge barracuda and a battle with a Bat Fish! Very funny stuff – Bat fish are basically poo eaters that live under the mothership when she’s moored in the river mouth overnight. Our guide, Al Simpson has tied up some ‘poo’ flies and Nick managed to hook up straight away!

We’re on the road next week making some more shows!

Just out of interest – has anybody else caught a Permit before????

We are currently doing it tough on board CARPENTARIA SEAFARIS mother ship cruising down from the very tip of Cape York fishing as we go! It’s hard, dirty work but someone has to do it… Anyway, we’ll have a full show about how we get on in a couple of weeks.This weeks episode features the big yellowfin we caught at Bermagui only a few weeks ago! It’s a great show and features one of the best ‘bites’ we’ve ever caught on camera so make sure you tune in.

As for other news from the HLS desk, we are releasing a DVD for Fathers Day, so keep an eye out on the website for details about that in coming weeks (should be ready by mid July sometime…).

Well, Bermagui turned out to be a very good trip indeed! We fished hard but it was all worth while when on our last days fishing we had a great session and caught it all on camera. Firstly, our world renowned wildlife photographer Mike managed to film a free jumping marlin… Andrew managed to hook up a big yellowfin on the cube… Then Nick managed to hook another big yellowfin on a live bait. All in the space of 15 minutes!!! Andrew’s fish which we let go would have had no problems weighing more than 50 kg! What a day!This weeks episode of HLS starts on Flinders Island in the middle of Bass Strait and we are targeting Striped Trumpeter, or Tassie Trumpeter as they are also known . They are one of the best fish to catch, they fight hard and they are superb eating. Then another segment from the NT and we are taking fishing by Wilson Tackle superstar Kord Lucus and manage a Jewfish from very shallow water in a very small boat. Great fun and something anyone could do.

We are off filming to Cape York next week and won’t be back for a while. We’ll have a full trip report on that when we get back.
