Southern Bluefin Tuna and more

Hello again everyone! What a great response to last weeks episode where we caught some Southern Bluefin Tuna off the south of Tassie – you’ll be pleased to know the fish are still about with plenty of big ones caught just last weekend in an annual competition. Now this weeks show was great fun to make, first half is about catching trout – but not any old trout! Big searunners from the beach – you have to see the footage to believe it! Then whiting fishing in South Australia is some of the best in the world and it didn’t let us down! Now, as you will have noticed on the blog, we are giving away a prize every week for what we deem as the best blog! Just tell us why you want to win one and we’ll pick a winner each week. Keep watching viewers, we are off to the Northern Territory this week and will aim to film some barra fishing while we are there!Keep it REEL!Nick and Andrew

Winter is really coming on in the Southern States…

Well winter is really coming on in the Southern States and we’re starting to plan a couple of trips north to catch some fish! But even though it is getting chilly, there is one fish you can target – and thats the Southern Blue Fin Tuna and it just so happens that this weeks Hook Line and Sinker saw us travel to Eagle Hawk Neck and find some great  fish busting up on the surface.  It’s a great show which has a highlight of Andrew having a fight with a seal.Keep entering the competition everyone.  At the end of the series we are giving away the Mitsubishi Triton and everyone who enters is in with a chance.Well, we’ll see you on the water soon, take care.Nick and Andrew

What a great response to our first episode…

Well what a great response to our first episode last Saturday. Thanks to everyone who entered to win a new Mitsubishi or an EvaKool Icebox and congratulations to our first winner of the series!!

Also, to everyone who wrote into to the blog – thanks for the kind words, and please keep the blog entries coming. We were a bit slack in answering the questions because we were away shooting in Coffs Harbour… And we have never seen so much rain! Sometimes making Hook, Line and Sinker is hard work, and in 30knots of wind and driving rain, that was the case this week!

This weeks show also had some hard work involved, we firstly head to Albury/Woodonga to chase Murrey Cod in the rivers around the area. These stocked fish are not easy to catch and after two days casting both of us hadn’t had a touch. However, we did end up getting one for the cameras, and what a magnificent fish. We couldn’t believe you could catch cod in a trout stream. Great stuff!

Then it’s off to beautiful flinders island and an afternoon session spinning for flathead. We got a few fish on plastics and thought we were going ok, that was until Nick caught what would easily be the biggest southern bluespot flathead caught on camera. We didn’t weigh it or measure it, but she was at least 9 or 10 pounds!

Keep turing in everyone, we still have 21 more shows to go this year, so you chance of winning the car or an icebox is pretty good!!!!!!!

Cheers for now,

Nick and Andrew

Where are you from, what do you fish for????

Just wondering where everyone is from and what is their favorite type of fishing, also if you have any good ideas which might make a good Hook, Line and Sinker segment? We’d love to hear from you?

Good to be back!

Finally Back on Air

Well it’s an entirely new season of Hook, Line and Sinker and it’s great to be back on the screen. If you are reading this then I take it you saw our first episode – Western Lakes fishing followed by Lizard Island Marlin and Nick’s wife having a baby! You’ll be glad to know baby and mother are doing fine!

Tassie’s Western Lakes is a fantastic place. If you are at all interested in trout fishing, this is the place to explore. It’s all visual, so you can see every dot on the fish before you catch it, plus they all rise to take tiny floating dry flies off the top of the water. Simply the best trout fishing in this country!

We lucked out on the marlin, had four strikes over the two days trolling from Lizard to Cairns but the hook didn’t hit home on any of them! The wahoo we caught was a cracker though, and gees it screamed!

You’ll have noticed a new segment this year on HL&S, Classic Catches! Make sure you check it out on the website, all you need to do is upload a photo of yourself, and each week we will pick a winner who will have a 60 litre EvaKool icebox delivered to their home… A great weekly prize worth almost 400 bucks!

Then everyone how enters will go into the draw to win a brand new Mitsubishi Triton GLX – R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How good is that – a new car just for showing everyone how good at fishing you are!

Be sure to be watching next week when we go Murray Cod fishing and then catch one of the biggest flathead you’ve ever seen on a tiny soft plastic lure!!!!!!!!!

Oh yer, and be sure to post your thoughts on the blog, the more comments/questions/tips the better!

Keep it REEL,

Nick and Andrew
