We have finally updated the website with the latest Beast segments! The Beast’s created a bit of a stir this year – people have been talking about it all over the country! Well, we can report she is still floating and still goes fast! We have fished out of her a couple of times, but the weather in Tassie at the moment is keeping us at bay.
Hopefully you will enjoy the latest updated vids on the beast page.
There’s only a few more remaining episodes of Hook, Line and Sinker for 2009. That means two things – firstly, make sure you tune in to get your fishing fix every Saturday because we won’t be back for a good six months or more, and secondly make sure you enter our classic catches competition right now! There’s just a tad under 2000 entries and one of them will win a brand-new Triton. That’s pretty good odds, so get uploading now. We draw the car on our final show on August 29.
Thanks also to Les and Greg Ware for writing in this week. They just want to warn everybody about a recent fish they caught, because it’s protected. Here’s what they had to say:
Hi guys,
I have entered the attached photo in your competition. My reason for doing so was not because it was a big fish, since Spotted Cods grow to over a metre in length (as you would know), but because I felt it may be worthwhile showing your viewers what this beautiful but protected species looks like to ensure they don’t risk attracting the $11,000 fine should they be found to have one in their possession. Had my husband not recognised the fish, I’d have been unaware that it was protected. Naturally we released it.
I have other photos of the Cod if you would like to use them to show the fish in its entirety. It was caught in our crab trap off our jetty on the North Shore of the Hastings River.
Thanks for a great show!

Now exciting news for 2009/2010 – we are going to be running a repeat of the entire 2009 series of Hook, Line and Sinker on the Aurora Channel on Pay TV. It should start in September sometime, we’ll keep you posted exactly when.
Also, we’ll be putting out a DVD of the series in time for Christmas this year. We’ll keep you posted on how you can get yours early and save money.
See you on Saturday, on the box!
Cheers,
Nick and Andrew

Hello Fish Fans,
We’ve been a bit slack lately updating this blog page – well that’s because we’ve been out fishing! It’s a tough life, but somebody has to do it!
Recent trips have included a fantastic wahoo fishing session off Fraser Island (where we also borrowed a new Mitsubishi Triton and didn’t get bogged once!) and some great action from the Whitsundays. Next trip we are off to Dubbo! Yes, that great fishing hotspot of western NSW! We received a call from a local Dubbo fishing guru and he talked us into the trip. Not sure what we are going to catch, maybe some yellowbelly or redfin…
Our project boat, the Beast, is going so well it’s unbelievable! She has her pod complete now and is about to be taken to our local Yamaha dealer – Lewis Marine – for fit-out of the big Yamaha 350. We are aiming for the launch date to be mid to late June, all going well. We’ll have our third update posted on the site soon, as well as the segments we have done so far.
Other news is we are finally getting some copies of our sold-out DVDs. Should have some by the end of the month, so if anyone wants some, keep an eye on this site.
The quality of entries in the Classic Catches competition has been astounding. It just goes to show that most of our viewers fish much better than we do! Keep the entries coming – these are some of the best odds around in a competition to win a car!
This week is our eighth episode of the season of 22, so there’s still plenty more of Hook, Line and Sinker to come. Hopefully you’ll keep tuning in and enjoying the show.
Cheers,
Nick and Andrew

As mentioned in a previous blog we found ourselves last week in the town of 1770 in central Queensland – and what a week we had! Everything we set out to catch came off so we finished with a couple of great shows, the first of which will go to air in just three weeks time!
Check out the pics (all of Andrew, as Nick was happier to commentate on proceedings rather than fish!).
A great coral trout taken on really light line.
A red throat taken on soft plastic.
A thumping big Spanish mackerel!
Other highlights include swimming in Fitzroy lagoon. It might be 80 kilometres out to sea, but it’s one of the prettiest spots in Aus! 1770 really does rock, so if you ever find yourself with a chance to get up there – take it!
Now this week on the show a real Hook, Line and Sinker classic! We make our own lures and try and catch a trout on them, and then a large tuna. Unbelievably, we actually catch fish – but two things become very obvious in this episode. Andrew is not great at working with timber, and Sammy, Nick’s dog, is no longer safe to roam the streets. You will see what we mean when you tune in!
Remember to keep the entries coming in for a chance to win a Mitsubishi Triton or EvaKool icebox. And just below here you’ll find a blog to win a new HLS DVD.
Until next time, safe fishing to you all!

Alright Beast fans, time to fill you in on all the goings on with our beautiful Bertram 23 project boat.
You check it out on the website – we’ve added some progress photos and answered some questions that were emailed by viewers.
Don’t forget to keep blogging if you’d like the chance to win a DVD.
And keep those entries flooding in!

We’re happy to announce our first DVD winner for the year is …. Noelene Jackson. Congrats Noelene – not only were you THE FIRST entry for 2009, but you also seem to appreciate that fishing’s not always about the destination (i.e. big fish!), but more about the fun you have getting there! Hope you enjoy your DVD. And keep those entries coming!

Hello fisher fans,
We are getting some fantastic entries in our Classic Catch competition! The quality of fish is just amazing, you spend heaps of time going through all the entries drooling! But we’ve caught a couple of good fish of our own over the past few weeks which will be on upcoming episodes of Hook, Line and Sinker.
We just returned from a trip to South Australia were we fished with a fellow by the name of the FUZZ! A great bloke and a very good snapper fisherman as you’ll see in a few weeks time.
The Beast is currently at the Fibreglasses getting a pod on the back of it so as we can get onto putting the 350hp Yamaha on the back of it, should get it back in a couple of weeks so as we can do our next segment on it.
Now please note, that next Saturday’s show (April 25) won’t be in the TEN markets (which is VIC, NSW and QLD) in it’s usual timeslot on Saturday, it’s been moved to Sunday at 12.30 in the afternoon. Due to ANZAC day footy. So if you remember tune in, because it’s a great show.
We are now on our way to the town of 1770 on the Sunshine Coast so we’ll have a report of how we go there next week.
Remember to keep entering the classic catch competition because there’s very good odds you might win a brand new Mitsubishi Trition or a new EvaKool icebox!
Until next time, Tightlines!
